Abstract

We used CPM in postoperative patients undergoing TKR for RA. CPM was used for 14 days from postoperative day 2 on, for an average of 12 hours per day. A wider range of knee motion was abtained in patients with CPM (CPM group) than in those without it (control group).
One year postoperatively the range of motion was found decreased than it was at the time of discharge from the hospital in both groups. Our experience with the use of CPM indicated that CPM proved to be effective in preserving the range of motion during the postoperative period of hospital stay and also in lessening individual variations in range of motion when assessed on a long-term basis.
