Abstract
We have attempted leg lengthening by callus distraction (Callotasis) in two cases. Some complications occurred in both cases.
Case 1 was a 10 years old female whose femur and tibia were shortened 3.7cm in length accompanied with Ollier's disease. During lengthening, limitation of the knee joint motion occurred. But ROM of her knee was gradually recovered and became full after 15 weeks.
Case 2 was a 20 years old male whose femur was shortened resulting from panosteomyelitis. It was complicated with delayed union and varus deformity. Although electrical stimulation (constant direct current) was performed, callus formation was not enough.
To prevent to complications, we must consider operative technique and indication.
