Abstract

Fourteen revision operations of proximal femoral endoprostheses were carried out in our clinic. Eight prostheses were replaced with total hip arthroplasties. It was technically very difficult to remove the Austin-Moore cementless prostheses, which has a designed window for self-locking.
Six cases of the cementless prosthesis complained of thigh pain and were treated by injection of cement from the window, into the anterior shaft of the femur which corresponded to tip of the prosthesis. This cementing method was found to be very effective for relief of thigh pain.
