Abstract
Seventeen cases with intra-articular displaced fracture of the calcaneus were treated surgically using the plate. They were classified into type II-C (3 cases), II-E (8 cases), and II-F (6 cases) according to Essex-Lopresti's classification.
All cases achieved bone union. Using the criteria for assessment described by Maxfield, excellent results were achieved in 9 cases. very good in 7 and fair in 1.
Open reduction and internal fixation is a useful method for treating intra-articular displaced fracture of the calcaneus.
