Objective: We report a case of endovascular stenting in venous sinus stenosis for the treatment of idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH).
Case Presentation: A 52-year-old man developed visual disturbance, headache, and papilledema. His lumbar puncture revealed an opening pressure of more than 35 cmH2O. MR venography showed superior sagittal sinus (SSS) stenosis. He received the standard medical treatment, but it was ineffective. Finally, he underwent endovascular stenting for SSS stenosis. We measured venous pressure during the procedure. Pre- and post-stenotic segments demonstrated a pressure gradient of 16 mmHg. Visual disturbance and headache disappeared just after the procedure.
Conclusion: Endovascular stenting should be considered for the patients who have medically refractory IHH with venous sinus stenosis.
