Objective: In a case of acute right middle cerebral artery occlusion that underwent mechanical thrombectomy, a delayed and reversible vascular stenotic lesion occurred.
Case Presentations: A 37-year-old woman developed a cerebral infarction with right middle cerebral artery occlusion. Mechanical thrombectomy was performed using a stent retriever and an aspiration catheter. Postoperative images showed no vascular stenosis, but vascular stenosis was observed 3 months after the operation. After that, the stenosis gradually improved. It was clinically asymptomatic.
Conclusion: Vascular stenosis and occlusion may occur in the chronic phase after mechanical thrombectomy. This may be related to vascular endothelial damage during the procedure. Follow-up should be carefully conducted.
