Abstract
This academic year, we have set the goal **"HIKARU (Shine)"—Illuminating each other’s strengths, refining ourselves, and shaping a bright future**. In the first year, we focused on **"Illuminate"—Recognizing and discovering potential within ourselves and our peers** and developed activities accordingly.
One key initiative was the **"First-Year Theme Symbol Mark Design Contest."** Aligned with the three-year goal of **"Illuminate" (First Year), "Refine" (Second Year), and "Shine" (Third Year),** students designed symbol marks reflecting each year’s theme. The winning design, chosen by student vote, was displayed on the first-year floor and used as the main visual for events, symbolizing the grade. The overall three-year symbol mark, designed by teachers, was introduced upon enrollment, with its meaning explained to encourage thoughtful student designs.
In the second semester, the integrated curriculum centered on **"Living in the Present, Shaping the Future as Our Own—2030 Society Design Project."** Through lectures and hands-on experiences, students explored societal challenges, considered solutions, and envisioned the future. The curriculum follows a three-year structure: **"Understanding × Myself"** in the first year, **"Grasping × Myself"** in the second, and **"Creating × Myself"** in the third.
First-year students participated in three major events. The first, in collaboration with **ReBit** and Starbucks Japan, addressed **"What is Gender Diversity?"** The second, with the **University of Tsukuba’s Special Needs Education Collaboration Group**, focused on accessibility through white cane, wheelchair, and hearing impairment simulations. The final session featured **Hiroyuki Kato**, an art director at Dentsu Inc., who discussed **"Turning Passion into a Career."**
At the year’s end, students visualized their learning through posters and presentations. Building on this foundation, the second-year curriculum will focus on **"Refine—Taking on Challenges, Strengthening Skills, and Taking Action."** Activities will include an overnight camp, career education, and pre-learning for the third-year school trip. The initiative, titled **"Jibungoto Time" ("Making It Personal Time"),** will encourage students to take ownership of societal issues, fostering collaborative thinking and a proactive approach to shaping the future.
