Abstract

1) The water from the source of the strongly acid spring Genzoyu at Narugo Spa has a strong bactericidal ability upon Esch. coli (NIHJ), S. typhi, S. paratyphi A and B. sh. dysenteriae (Komagome B III strain) and Staphylococci albus at room temperature, but the strongly alkaline source water of Unagiyu has no such an effect.
2) The source water of Genzoyu retains its strong antiseptic effect against Esch. coli and sh. dysenteriae (Komagome B III strain) and Staphylococci albus even when diluted to five-or tenfold in dilution.
3) By storing apart for 24 hours, the source water of Genzoyu loses in its bactericidal ability of Esch. coli.
4) The source water of Genzoyu is stronger in its bactericidal ability against Esch. coli than a corresponding dilution of sulfuric acid with. the same hydroion concentration.
