Abstract
This paper investigates the relationships between the times and the periods of infant word acquisition and word length. We divided an infant's word acquisition process into two subprocesses: comprehension and comprehension to production. Then we calculated the comprehension times and the periods from comprehension to production. For the word lengths, we used the lengths of entry words or utterances. Our experimental results showed weak correlation between the periods from comprehension to production and utterance lengths. In addition, we found a middle correlation of predicates consisting of verbs and adjectives.
