Abstract
Nowadays, the shaver system is used for endoscopic endonasal sinus surgery at many institutions, and its usefulness has been well documented. It has been reported that ESS by shaver system is both safe and accurate. However, many reports have not mentioned that shaver surgery is also a more effective method with respect to postoperative healing. Therefore, we would like to show you some cases we have observed in which the shaver system was a more effective method than forceps surgery. The first case is a recurrent polyp in the olfactory fissure after usual surgery. The second case is a recurrent polyp in the middle turbinate after usual surgery. The third case is a nodular thickening in the bilateral nasal septum with anosmia. The fourth is a case of recurrent allergic rhinitis after laser vaporization. Finally, the fifth case is a hemangioma at inferior concha. Shaver surgery was very effective for these cases because it was possible to remove only aspirated pathologihcal mucosa uniformity without exposing any bone.
