A new course of study of physics was introduced in the spring of 2003 for students at high school. The new physics course consists of Physics I and Physics II (both are 3 credit classes) . Eleven topics from junior high school course are transferred into Physics I, so that it has become a heavy class for 3 credits. Topics which require systematic study are transferred into Physics II and “Matter and Atom” and “Atom and Nucleus” are introduced as elective topics. To study all of the available topics in Physics II requires 4 credits, but only 3 credits can be given for the topics available at most high schools. However, if the University Entrance Examination requires the study of all Physics II topics, the lack of study time may cause serious problems for students. These problems may eventually lead to a collapse of physics education at high school level. We make a proposal for the University Entrance Examination of physics II.
