Magneto-optical effects are used in various fields and play an important role in magnetic flux observation. Magneto-optical imaging (MOI) has become a method of non-destructive characterization that excels at spatial resolution in real time to observe the magnetic flux in superconductors, and it is necessary for the study of coated conductors. I introduce an outline of the development of MOI and coated conductors, and report on typical MOI results observed in coated conductors.
