A semiconductor factory capable of withstanding great earthquake impacts

Abstract

The Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011 caused serious damage to the Renesas Electronics Naka factory. Great support from many organizations, including our customers, enabled us to accelerate our restoration work and resulted in a three month ahead of schedule production start, 80 days after the quake occurred. Damage, restoration work and countermeasures for future disasters are addressed in this article.
