As part of our ongoing research program to develop printed biosensors, we propose new sensor platforms based on organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). OTFTs can be applied to wearable and disposable sensors because of their mechanical flexibility and low-cost processability. In this review, we describe OTFT-based sensors functionalized with antibodies, enzymes, or artificial receptors for various analytes. Notably, we successfully demonstrated an ultra-flexible biosensor fabricated by a printing technology (=inkjet printing). We believe that OTFTs will widen the avenue for the potential development of future sensor devices in healthcare applications.
