Abstract

IoT structural sensing is a process of measuring various phenomena in architectural buildings. The sensed data is used for many applications: diagnosing the health of the structure, judging the necessity of reinforcement work, and evacuation guidance in the event of a disaster. In this paper, we introduce some case studies of IoT structural sensing: ultra-high density earthquake monitoring, warship island monitoring, and multimodal measurement using a chip scale atomic clock. In the discussions of the individual research, we will raise the technical challenges in IoT structural sensing such as time synchronization, energy, and the performance of acceleration sensors.
