For global sustainable development and digital transformation, a revolution in materials science is strongly desired so that it can lead to a novel scheme of information technologies operating at a much faster speed with much lower consumption than ever. Thus, much attention has been paid to quantum materials that could have such novel functionalities based on quantum effects. Here, we show that the recently developed quantum materials, “topological magnets” have produced some breakthroughs by introducing unprecedented functionality in magnets. The novel functions are driven by the quantum Berry phase coming from both the topological electronic structure in momentum space and the magnetic structure in real space. The topological magnets are found to be essential for developing antiferromagnetic spintronics as well as energy harvesting technology. Thus, the study of topological magnets could enable the revolution that is necessary for society to carry out a digital transformation.
