How to utilize the semiconductor technology roadmap and the science and technology policy

Abstract

This article provides an overview of the history and significance of the IEEE International System Device Roadmap IRDS^TM*, which is an open-participation-type roadmap based on the insights and discussions of experts under public-domain information. The IRDS^TM includes technology trends related to semiconductor technology as well as their system applications. The roadmap information is updated and published on the IEEE IRDS homepage under agreements among the international representative organizations such as the JSAP System Device Roadmap committee of Japan (SDRJ) and SiNANO from Europe with the US IEEE IRDS^TM committee at the core. This paper also supplements and outlines related semiconductor-related policies.
