The author developed a knee orthosis with powered joint a few yearsago with Ochanomizu University and the National Rehabilitation Research Center at Tokorozawa. After the development, the authorconducted several robotics researches that are inspired from thatexperience. The author describes the technology of the knee orthosis, application of robotics technology, and the current/future related areas that must be incorporated in such development.
