Host: Transdisciplinary Federation of Science and Technology
With increasing international economic activities in recent years, there are growing expectations for innovations as the driving force for conomic growth and a solution to problems faced by the international community. Fusion of knowledge in various disciplines has been recognized as a key for innovations since J.A.Schumpeter, and today it is required to build an environment that facilitates such knowledge fusion. Intellectual Cafe is one such environment that provides opportunities for promoting fusion and thus stimulating innovations. This paper describes the basic idea and the future directions of the Intellectual Cafe activities now being pursued by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI).
