Abstract
As a method to analyze the safety of software systems, “STAMP” is drawing attention. This is an accident model focusing on the interaction of modules and control, and enables more rational assessment than that obtained by FTA or FMEA, which are conventionally used programs for software safety assessment, etc. Safety and reliability assessment of a whole railway system is required to satisfy RAMS standard (IEC62278), where quantitative analysis is needed for assessment of safety. In this paper, we will take examples of conventional safety analysis for railway signaling, organize the characteristics of these analysis methods and describe the procedures to effectively take advantage of each analysis method for assessing the safety of a railway system.
