Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to encourage the practice of extensive reading for the Japanese language classes in the technical college. I attempted to provide the students with plenty of teaching materials from their textbooks only. There are two reasons for doing this. First, the students can spread their concern by reading all the teaching materials. Second, the students can acquire the habit of reading by repeatedly all the teaching materials. As a result, the students will be able to read books independently. Consequently, they will improve their attitudes toward reading. However, it soon became clear that it was necessary to select the teaching materials that were suitable for the students in order that they could read books extensively. Therefore, although the idea of extensive reading should be seriously considered, from now on, it is necessary to examine which teaching materials in the textbooks are suitable for the students.
