Abstract

This paper aims to reexamine two kinds of mutuality between fuzzy concepts, i.e. "similarity" and "matching" through three psychological experiments. Based on the results from this study, the findings on the mutuality in Yoshikawa (1998) are reviewed. Therefore, the correlation analysis between 30 indices and subjective ratings of the mutuality confirms the following. The indices related to distance along element axis correspond to the subjective ratings than those that express degree of overlap. The other findings, however, are not verified from these results.
