Abstract
Osteoporosis is one of diseases having a condition that causes thin bone. The osteoporosis appears as a condition in which the bones become fragile and brittle. It causes the bedridden problem by the senior citizen's fracture. The osteoporosis is diagnosed by using the transformation level of the bone density and the bone based on the image which is obtained by CR, CT, MRI, etc. However, there are no methods for automatic detection in the visual screening. In this paper, we propose a new CAD (Computer aided diagnosis) method to analyze the osteoporosis by using image processing technique from the CR image. The technique is to extract the spine by using the idea of peripheral distribution, and to measure the shape. Afterwards, we measure the height of the edge in the back, front, and center of the spine, before evaluation. The proposed method adopted for 36 cases which combined normal and abnormal cases, and satisfactory results are obtained.
