Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to propose basic concept of learning support framework that focuses on consciousness. We propose a construction for mathematical model to express concepts such as "emotion" and "consciousness" in vector space. Emotion or consciousness of each individual is represented by a point in the vector space in the model. There is a high correlation in the sense of purpose and academic achievement of students by our experience. Consciousness is one of the important factors to achieve the goals. These facts are well known, definition of consciousness is difficult in general, and we have constructed a model by referring to the concept of moral science. We define the consciousness space has 3 axes [gratitude-discontent], [sympathy-egocentricity] and [understanding-misunderstanding] as the upper layers of emotional space. We are planning to apply the mathematical model of consciousness space to educational support system. We adopt UPI (University Personality Inventory) test which is a psyc hometric test for university students. We measure the scale to check the items concerning "gratitude " and "sympathy " based on the result of UPI test. The class questionnaire is used in order to determine the measure of understanding purpose.
