Abstract

Thailand experiences increasing mental health concerns. There are limited mental health services. With support from the Thai Health Foundation, an Academic Institute of Mental Health Promotion was developed as a thinktank to promote sustainable mental health promotion policy and innovation. Community-based and less-resource-intensive mental health care will be promoted. Multidisciplinary-approach, research-based, need-based mental health promotion will be delivered via education and training, advocacy, collaboration, and innovation.

Main operational plans are: 1) to create academic works on mental health promotion via policy proposals, 2) to disseminate academic works on key mental health promotion issues, 3) to disseminate annual Thailand mental health overview report, 4) to establish a mental health innovative center, 5-7) to organize activities to empower mental health innovators, academic networks, and stakeholder networks, 8) to organize relevant public relation activities, 9) to enhance participation from local organizations, 10) to develop a mental network, and 11) to establish online media channels for academic communication.
