Cyclotron Facility at QST-iQMS

Abstract

The cyclotron facility at Institute for Quantum Medical Sciences, National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST-iQMS) has been in operation since it opened in 1974 as the first cyclotron facility for medical research in Japan. The success of the facility is due to continuous improvements and updates to the cyclotron and its associated equipment. In this report, we introduce our past activities regarding the cyclotron facility, an overview of the facility, and its operational status. In addition, the fire accident that occurred in November 2011 and its impact also be described.
