Abstract
Bi4V2011(B4V) ceramics were fabricated from coprecipitated precursor powders with different Bi/V ratios under various heating conditions. XRD results showed the B4V phase was synthesized via the reaction between BiV04(B1V) and Bi203. Solid phases formed during sintering were examined along the sample depth. Inner regions of the sintered samples consisted of mixtures of B4V, B1V and Bi203. The formation of the intended B4V phase was obtained only on the outer surface of the samples containing an excess amount of the Bi component.
