Abstract
Composite materials made of metal and have high strength and corrosion resistance. For these materials, the adherence at the glass-metal interface is important. NiO or CoO is added to flit as an adhensive agent. The adhensive agent reacts with metal and makes the interface which causes strong adherence rough, which causes strong adherence. In order to evaluate the reactivity between glass and metal, the activity coefficient of NiO in borosilicate glass was measured. Glass powder was put on a nickel board and they were equilibrated under CO-CO 2 atomosphere at 800oC for 48hours. The dependence of solubility of NiO into the glass on oxygen partial pressure showed the following reaction proceeded ; Ni + 1/2 O 2 = NiO. The composition dependence of the activity coefficient of NiO was also studied.
