Abstract
Simulation method was developed to analyzed stress fileds in ceramics components having complicated microstructure using a finite element method. Typical microstructures of ceramics were classified into three types: monophasic polycrstal, composite and porous structures. Microstructures were modeled as two and three-dimensional finite element models. Finite element models for monophasic polycrstal and composite ceramics were constructed from each grain within its microstructure. Finite element model for porous ceramics was constructed from two-dimensional X-ray computeded tomography images. Macroscopic stiffness matrix, such as Young′s modulus, was calculated by either finite element or homogenization methods. Using calculated stiffness matrix, macroscopic stress fields in bend bar specimens composed of two different materilas were analyzed. From analyzed stress fields, principal stressses in bend bar specimens were detected, and most critical positions of each material were estimated.
