Abstract
Several silicate glasses (soda-lime, barium aluminosilicate and silica) were immersed in 60AgNO3.40KNO3 salts (in mol%) at 300°C, and irradiated by 1.06μm YAG pulse laser in the fluence of 9W/cm″ at 10Hz for 15 min. The only glass surface of the side of laser input was colored yellow, and characteristic plasma absorption centered around 440nm was found in optical absorption spectra. The AFM observation revealed that the irradiated surfaces were roughed on the scale of several hundreds nm, and silver particles with the grain size about 25nm were deposited on the surface. The threshold fluence of the laser for coloration was 8W/cm″, and the multi-photon absorption process was considered to be important to form silver nanoparticles at the interface between molten salt and glass.
