Abstract
The strength development of semi-plastic AAC is one of the important controlling factors in the manufacturing process of AAC. The method of predicting the strength development was investigated to evaluate the performance of cement for AAC. This method used a conduction calorimeter to measure the heat of cement hydration. The test was conducted on the measuring temperature, the different sample compositions, the amount of sample, the temperature of mixing water and the baseline correction methods. Quicklime and gypsum added to the cement according to the desired composition of the AAC slurry, and the sample mixed well with water at the prescribed temperature. As the result, the heat of cement hydration was measured accurately. Thus, the strength development of semi-plastic AAC could be predicted accurately from the amount of hydration heat of cement used for AAC using the conduction calorimeter. This method was effective in actual AAC factory using commercial cement.
