Abstract
As the materials immobilizing radioactive radioactive iodine, four types of compounds were synthesized; Pb10(VO4)6I2, Ba10(VO4)6I2, AgPb9(VO4)6I and AgBa9(VO4)6I. Some thermal and mechanical properties were measured. Thermal stability was estimated thrmogravimetry and differential thermal analysis(TG-DTA). TG-DTA curves showed that the these compounds were unstable above 800K and supported that the pure materials were obtained on by the reaction in a sealed quartz tube at 973K. Thermal conductivity of these samples was less than 1.0 W/K/m. The relationship of Young′s modulus and Viclers hardness for Ba10(VO4)6I2 and AgBa9(VO4)6I seemed to correspond to that of ceramics but that of Pb10(VO4)6I2 and AgPb9(VO4)6I showed the tendency between ceramics and metals.
