Crystallization and photoluminescence of Eu3+ -doped SnO2-SiO2 glasses induced by femtosecond laser

Abstract

We found that SnO_{2 nano crystals with a size of ∼5nm were precipitated by irradiating a femtosecond laser. The fluorescence from the Eu³⁺ ions codoped in glass was largely enhanced by the precipitation of SnO2 crystals, in which the energy are efficiently transferred from the SnO2 into Eu³⁺ ions.}
