Design of Grain Oriented Structures by Using Monte Carlo Simulation of Sintering and Grain Growth

Abstract

We conducted the Monte Carlo simulation of sintering and grain growth in order to design the microstructure of the grain-oriented ceramics. It was found that our simulation method would be useful to optimize the initial conditions of the templated grain growth processing, which is widely applicable to the fabrication of the functional ceramics (e.g., thermoelectrics and piezoelectrics).
