Abstract
Ceria-zirconia solid solution play an important role as an oxygen supplier as well as absorber in automotive exhaust emission control systems. Structures of Ce2Zr2O7+x with an ordered oxygen vacancies were studied using a HRTEM. On the basis of direct observation with HRTEM and with the aid of computer simulation, the ordered oxygen vacancies in Ce2Zr2O7 and Ce2Zr2O7.5was found to be identified as bright-spot in HRTEM image in the [001] orientation.
