Abstract
The calcined hydroxyapatite (HAp) nano-crystals having good dispersibility in media were successfully prepared by the calcination of low crystallized HAp nano-particles with Ca(OH)2 used as an anti-sintering agent interposed among the particles, followed by washing of the agent with water. In the case of the calcination without Ca(OH)2, large agglomerates consisting of sintered HAp polycrystals were observed after being dispersed in ethanol. On the other hand, in the case of the calcination with Ca(OH)2 interposed among the particles, the obtained HAp single-crystal could be dispersed in ethanol as primary particles.
