Abstract
We are engaged in research of high performance photonics devices using newly developed functional materials. Fiber optical parametric phenomena based on four wave mixing is promising as wavelength conversions, optical switch, ultra-broadband amplifications, etc. We have researched heavy metal oxide glass materials with high optical nonlinearity to realize practical nonlinear waveguide guide devices. Metal ion-doped gain media have successfully been used for coherent light creation and optical signal amplifications. They have realized an innovation in the telecommunication field. In this talk I will present out recent status of photonics material research for optical signal processing devices.
