Abstract
As a wide band gap (3.37 eV) semiconductor oxide with a large excitation binding energy (60 meV), zinc oxide becomes one of the most important functional materials with unique properties. In our group, a facile novel approach to synthesize the hexagonal zinc oxide micro tubes is demonstrated at low temperature. This synthesis introduces ammonia water into zinc chloride aqueous solution, which enables the generation of tubular ZnO at large-scale, low cost and simple equipments. The morphology of products could be controlled by adjusting the synthesis conditions. Growth mechanism and characterization of ZnO micro tubes will be reported in this paper.
