Abstract
Semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) have been expected to be applied in various fields as new fluorescent materials due to their size-dependent optical properties. In this study, we report the preparation of blue-emitting ZnSe-based NCs in aqueous solution. Adding a slight amount of Te ion into the solutions during synthesis, the emission wavelength has been shifted to a longer wavelength. The emission efficiency of NCs was increased by forming a passivating ZnS shell on the surface of NCs by post preparative UV-irradiation. The observed red-shift was compared with quantum mechanical calculations of energy levels of electron and hole of exciton.
