Abstract
The reaction of yttrium acetate and trimethoxyborane in 1,4-butanediol directly yielded YBO3 crystals having spheroidal morphology with a diameter of 1 micrometer. In this work, we investigated about the relationship between the morphology of YBO3 and the starting materials or additives for the reaction. The reaction of yttrium chloride and trimethoxyborane in 1,4-butanediol in the presence of hexylamine yielded YBO3 crystals having flower-like morphology. The crystal growth toward c axis was disturbed as compared with that in ab plane.
