Abstract
Eu3+-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by Ar/O2 induction thermal plasma pyrolysis of aqueous solutions containing titanium(III) trichloride and europium(III) nitrate. The presence of chlorines caused to increase rutile content and decrease the solubility of Eu3+ into TiO2 lattice. The synthesized powders containing chlorine exhibited sharp emission at 617 nm. The luminescent intensity was lower than that of the powders synthesized without chlorine.
