Abstract
Crystallization of glass is a bottom-up type process for material fabrications having a potential for morphology control. We discuss on second-order optical nonlinearities and fluorescence properties of rare-earth ions in crystallized glasses with various morphologies (nanocrystals, highly oriented crystals, etc.) from the points of asymmetric crystal fields.
