Abstract

It was found that Al2O3-B4C was acceptable materials for high temperature NTC thermistor. Usually, Al2O3-B4C composite ceramics was obtained by Hot Pressing at a temperature of 1873K for 6 hours. In this work, we attempted to prepare high-density Al2O3-B4C ceramics at a lowered temperature for short time using Spark Plasma Sintering method combined with sol-gel process. Further more, we studied the effect of difference of Al2O3 powders for the sintering process(an acid catalyst or a base catalyst). As a result, we successfully prepared high-density Al2O3-B4C at 1573K for 30 min.
