Abstract
Laser technique is applied to coat and pattern laminin/hydroxyapatite (HAP) composite on polymeric material, ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH). Two steps were conducted to form and pattern laminin/HAP on EVOH plate. First, laser was irradiated onto EVOH substrate immersed in CP solution (a supersaturated aqueous solution with Ca2+ cation and PO43- anion) to pattern apatite nuclei through heterogeneous nucleation process. Second, immersion process in LCP solution (laminin-mixed CP solution) was performed to grow HAP and immobilize laminin on the patterned apatite nuclei obtained by laser process. Laminin/hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanocomposite prepared by these processes demonstrated that cellular activities including adhesion, spreading, and proliferation of fibroblast cells, and secreting extracellular matrix are dramatically enhanced.
