Abstract
Metalic Al can be expected to act as a reducing agent in the silicate glass or germinate glass. In this study, mixing metallic Al into the starting material for SiO2-GeO2—CaO glasses are proposed as a means of forming oxygen defects in glass. Synthesized glass shows visible luminescence under ultraviolet excitation. Dominant luminescence wavelength is tunable from 420 to 740 nm by changing excitation wavelength .Luminescence attributes to three types oxygen defect structures( Si(_II_), Ge(_II_), Germyl radical) caused by reduction ability of metallic Al.
