Abstract
Reactions between transition metal sulfides and metal nitrides at 1000 oC for 12 h were studied by the sealed tube technique. The reactions between CuS and LaN with the ratio CuS : LaN = 1 : 1 yielded a new compound of the orthorhombic system(a =20.615 Å, b =14.639Å, c =3.991Å). The reactions of NiS caused the reduction of Ni to form Ni or Ni3S2.
