Abstract
Unique stress-strain relationship appears during strain control out-of-phase thermo-mechanical fatigue (TMF) tests of EB-PVD Y2O3-ZrO2 thermal barrier coating system. During test, tensile stress appears in the specimen although compressive strain was continuously applied during the test. Theoretical analysis was done to understand this behavior, which based on creep behavior of the substrate superalloy. The analysis explained unique stress-strain relation of the TBC system. Discussion will be made on the theoretical estimation of the deformation behavior in TBC system.
