Abstract
Crystalline boron carbide (B4C) powder was synthesized from the precursor obtained by pyrolysis of boric acid-glycerin condensed product with tartaric acid addition in air.
The prepared precursor powder had a bicontinuous carbon/boron oxide (B2O3) network structure with tartaric acid addition which had more dispersed microstructure of carbon and B2O3.
The factor of shortening the synthesis time was development of the precursor structure.
