Abstract
Using platelike NaNbO3 crystal particles prepared by single-step molten salt synthesis, the textured Nb-based piezoelectric ceramics were fabricated by the rolling-extended method. In the single-step molten salt synthesis, fine platelike NaNbO3 crystal particles were obtained when the amount of Bi2O3 was decreased to one third of the stoichiometric amount for Bi2.5Na3.5Nb5O15. Textured NaNbO3 ceramics were sintered from the green body containing these NaNbO3 crystal particles as templates. The maximum orientation degree was about 94% when the template content was 10% in the green body.
