Abstract
Photoluminescence (PL) of mesoporous carbon silica (MPCS) under UV light excitation is reported. The MPCS nanocomposite was synthesized by a triconstituent co-assembly method followed by carbonization at 900 oC in N2 and oxidization at 500 oC in air. The PL color of MPCS nanocomposite was dependent on the HCl concentration which is used as a catalyst for stimulating hydrolysis and polycondensation. It is speculated that the PL color is effected from the location of C atom in SiO2 and the framework structure of silica.
